Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes on Friday for the quick recovery of Ajay Rai, the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee President. Rai, reportedly unwell, has been a recurring opponent of Modi, having contested against him in the Varanasi Lok Sabha elections over the last decade.
Rai stood as a Congress candidate against Modi in three consecutive elections in Varanasi, in 2014, 2019, and 2024, yet was unable to emerge victorious in any of the contests.
In a message posted on X, Modi expressed his concern by stating, ''I have come to know that the president of Uttar Pradesh Congress, Ajay Rai ji, is unwell. I wish him a speedy recovery.''
