Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai was rushed to Medanta Hospital in Lucknow after collapsing due to low sodium levels, party officials reported on Saturday.
Rai fainted at his residence on Friday evening, following a busy day of party engagements and a trip to the airport. Medical examinations revealed a sodium deficiency and elevated blood pressure. He is currently stable and recovering well under the supervision of a medical team, according to Hospital Director Dr. Rakesh Kapoor.
Politicians across the board, including Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have extended their best wishes for Rai's swift recovery. Rai, a Varanasi native, ran against Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and was appointed as the Uttar Pradesh Congress unit chief in 2023.
