Trust Deficit Drama: BJP Accuses AITC Amid Electoral Conflicts in Bengal

In the aftermath of the West Bengal polling process, political tensions between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) have intensified, marked by a slew of allegations concerning electoral malpractice.

BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a fresh salvo on Saturday, accusing the AITC of grappling with a significant trust deficit. Trivedi highlighted the repeated, unsuccessful legal attempts by AITC to challenge constitutional authorities, lauding the Supreme Court's decision to abstain from meddling with the Election Commission's directive to assign central government employees as tally supervisors in the state.

Trivedi bolstered his argument by indicating the judicial rejection of an AITC appeal spearheaded by Kapil Sibal. The AITC's purported lack of confidence in central personnel, coupled with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's intervention during an IPAC investigation, was portrayed as evidence of AITC's insecurity. With fatalities linked to the local elections and subsequent allegations of vote rigging, the BJP questions the AITC's commitment to constitutional integrity amidst its recurring legal grievances.
