Amid rising tensions, the Vijay-led TVK party has urged the Election Commission to enhance security measures ahead of the May 4 vote counting in Tamil Nadu.
The call for additional forces comes after allegations that anti-social elements vandalized two of the party's offices in Srirangam constituency.
The party aims to prevent disruptions and ensure the safety of its agents and candidates as they discharge their electoral duties, pushing for a 'sterile zone' around counting centres.
