Congress Confident Despite Exit Polls Favoring BJP in Assam Elections

Leading figures from the Congress, DK Shivakumar, Bhupesh Baghel, and Jitendra Singh, engaged with alliance partners in Assam before the May 4 election results. The Congress-led coalition includes five other parties, namely Raijor Dal, Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), CPI(M), APHLC, and CPI(ML).

Assam Congress president, Gaurav Gogoi, speaking at a press conference, conveyed collective confidence among alliance members in forming the upcoming government, directly challenging exit polls suggesting a BJP victory. Gogoi asserted that these forecasts are efforts by the ruling party to manipulate public perception.

DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and election observer in Assam, echoed disapproval of the exit poll predictions. He argued that fear tactics kept voters from voicing support and revealed insights from BJP affiliates showing dwindling confidence within their ranks, bolstering Congress' optimism based on internal surveys.
