BJP candidate Harshadbhai Parmar has secured a decisive lead over his Congress opponent, Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan, in the ongoing Umreth assembly bypoll in Gujarat, according to the latest vote counts.
The Election Commission data reveals Parmar received 33,745 votes after the completion of the ninth counting round, compared to Chauhan's 23,310. Security remains tight at the count site at BJVM College.
Triggered by the death of former MLA Govind Parmar, this bypoll features Parmar's son in his first major electoral contest. Meanwhile, Congress's Chauhan, a seasoned politician, is navigating the competition as the state's central zone coordinator.
