The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), spearheaded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is leading in the Assam Assembly elections, securing a lead in 98 seats as per the Election Commission's latest update.
The Congress, along with its allies, finds itself trailing with leads in only 25 constituencies. The BJP's formidable performance includes figures such as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma leading in Jalukbari and other senior BJP members establishing significant leads in their respective constituencies.
The election witnessed a high voter turnout, with 85.96 percent of the 2.5 crore electorate casting their votes in a single-phase polling event. Counting operations are ongoing at 40 dedicated centers across the state to determine Assam's legislative future.
