Trends indicate that Congress and BJP are leading in the Karnataka bypolls for the Bagalkot and Davanagere South Assembly seats. The voting took place earlier on April 9, triggered by the demise of notable Congress MLAs.
In Bagalkot, Congress' candidate Umesh Meti has established a lead over BJP's Veerabhadrayya Charantimath by 9,969 votes, according to the Election Commission's current updates.
Meanwhile, in Davanagere South, BJP's Srinivas T Dasakariyappa is leading Congress' Samarth Mallikarjun by 8,539 votes. A total of nine candidates contested in Bagalkot, while 25 were in the running in Davanagere South.
