BJP Gains Momentum in Singur Amidst Nano Factory Debate

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making significant headway in the Singur constituency during the West Bengal assembly elections, as it leads by nearly 3,000 votes.

Singur, known for the controversial abandonment of the Tata Nano car factory, has become a focal point of political discussion. BJP's Arup Kumar Das is currently leading with 15,516 votes against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) contender Becharam Manna, who has acquired 12,651 votes.

This constituency has consistently been a stronghold for TMC since 2001, but it now sees a shift as the debate over the Nano factory remains ever-relevant owing to past anti-farmland acquisition protests led by TMC leader Mamata Banerjee.
