Humayun Kabir's Surprising Lead in Murshidabad

Humayun Kabir, leader of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party, is showing a strong lead in the Nowda and Rejinagar constituencies in West Bengal's Murshidabad district as vote counting continues. Kabir, who was previously suspended from the Trinamool Congress for proposing a mosque similar to Babri Masjid, has gained significant support against his rivals.

In the Nowda seat, Kabir leads his closest competitor by 5,796 votes after the fifth round of counting, while in Rejinagar, he holds a 6,325-vote lead over BJP's Bapan Ghosh after the third round. The Aam Janata Unnayan Party leader attributes the support to the public's rejection of the perceived injustices against him and the minority community by the Mamata Banerjee administration.

Kabir had forecasted his party to secure at least four seats, indicating a potential key role in shaping the next government in Bengal. His unexpected electoral strength highlights a critical turning point in the local political landscape.
