In a surprising turn of events, the political party led by the actor-turned-politician Vijay, known as the TVK, is emerging as a formidable force in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Early trends suggest TVK is ahead in over a hundred constituencies, with significant support in northern districts such as Chennai, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, and Thiruvallur.
According to the Election Commission of India, TVK has also made substantial inroads into the central regions, including cities like Tiruchirappalli and Thanjavur. Their influence is not limited to the north and central areas; they have dominated the traditional Dravidian strongholds in Madurai city.
The party's impact is felt across southern districts like Dindigul and Virudhunagar, while even the Congress bastion of Kanyakumari shows TVK presence. The final results for 234 constituencies will be unveiled by late evening, but preliminary counts suggest a shifting political dynamic in the state.
