Cape Verde Rejects Cruise Ship Over Hantavirus Fears

Cape Verdean health authorities announced on Monday their decision to prevent a cruise ship, associated with suspected hantavirus cases, from docking at the port of Praia. This move comes as a precautionary measure to safeguard public health.

The Atlantic Ocean archipelago's National Directorate of Health issued a statement ensuring that all necessary precautions are in place, which include the readiness for possible medical evacuations by air ambulance for patients under observation.

In their reassurance to the public, officials confirmed that the situation is under control and that there is no present risk to the land-based population.
