The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters was a hub of celebration as rasgullas and poha were relished by party leaders, reveling in the BJP-NDA alliance's strong performance in assembly elections across four states and a Union Territory. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi characterized the election momentum in West Bengal as an unfolding wave of nationalism that reached tsunami levels.
Referring to Prime Minister Modi's viral 'jhalmuri' moment, Trivedi remarked on its impactful symbolism, suggesting it heralds a 'blooming of lotus'—BJP's emblem—in West Bengal. He noted, 'The PM has always maintained an endearing rapport with West Bengal,' underscoring the significance of nationalism in the party's narrative.
Echoing this sentiment, BJP national spokesperson Ajay Alok interpreted the election results as a resolute embrace of nationalism. He proclaimed the end of the opposition's influence, saying, 'Mamata is gone, Gogoi is gone, Stalinism is gone; now PM Modi's nationalism will strongly prevail across India.'
Festivities also erupted throughout West Bengal, with BJP workers distributing 'jhalmuri' in Kolkata. If current counting trends continue, BJP is on track to surpass the halfway mark of 147 seats, positioning it as the dominant party in West Bengal. This development could expand the NDA's governance to 21 states.
The Election Commission of India's trends at 3:30 pm show BJP leading prominently in Assam, while Prime Minister Modi is set to visit the party headquarters in New Delhi, as the BJP eyes victories in both West Bengal and Assam, marking a significant political triumph.
