Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Monday that he had engaged in talks with Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico to explore Ukraine's aspirations of joining the EU.

Fico, identified as a pro-Russian figure within the EU, has scheduled a trip to Moscow to participate in Russia's Victory Day celebrations on May 9, as broadcast by Russian state TV.

Zelenskiy further revealed their discussions involved collaboration in various sectors and proposed a forthcoming meeting of an intergovernmental commission to solidify their cooperation.
