The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made significant inroads in the West Bengal assembly elections, winning 12 seats and leading in 188 others as vote counting progresses. This surge signals a noteworthy shift in the state's political dynamics, primarily dominated by the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
According to the Election Commission, the BJP secured wins in pivotal areas like Kalimpong, Darjeeling, and Asansol Dakshin. Bharatiya Janata Party candidates posted strong margins in various constituencies, such as BJP's Bharat Kumar Chetri securing Kalimpong by 21,464 votes and Angimitra Paul winning Asansol Dakshin by 40,839 votes.
