Former CPI(M) Leader G Sudhakaran's Resounding Victory in Ambalapuzha
In the latest Assembly elections, former CPI(M) leader G Sudhakaran won the Ambalapuzha constituency as an Independent backed by the UDF, defeating his rival by 27,935 votes. The Congress-led UDF also achieved a significant win in Kerala, recovering from the CPI(M)-led LDF, which was aiming for a consecutive third term.

In a notable turn of events, former CPI(M) leader G Sudhakaran triumphed in the Ambalapuzha Assembly constituency as a UDF-backed Independent, securing victory by a margin of 27,935 votes.
Sudhakaran, known for his adherence to leftist values and a clean image, quit the CPI(M) before the election, leveling several allegations against the party leadership, including state secretary M V Govindan.
On the statewide scale, the Congress-led UDF made a strong comeback, winning nearly 100 out of the 140 Assembly seats, thereby defeating the CPI(M)-led LDF. This victory interrupted the LDF's bid for an unprecedented third consecutive term in office.
