NDA Triumphs in Assam: Third Consecutive Victory

Incumbent Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma won the Jalukbari constituency for the sixth time, while prominent opposition figures faced significant losses.

The ruling NDA has clinched victory in Assam, poised to govern for the third consecutive term after achieving a two-thirds majority with 101 seats. As of Monday, the BJP secured 81 seats, with allies Bodo Peoples' Front and Asom Gana Parishad acquiring 10 seats each.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma celebrated a landslide win in Jalukbari, defeating Congress' Bidisha Neog. Despite BJP's dominance, the Congress secured only 15 seats, facing setbacks including the defeat of Congress president Gaurav Gogoi in Jorhat.
Prominent BJP figures such as Ajanta Neog and Ajanta Neog were re-elected, with legislative victories spanning across the state. The opposition, however, reeled from significant losses, struggling to maintain a footing in Assam's shifting political tableau.
