A Silent Statement: The Rise of NOTA in Kerala Elections
In the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, over 123,000 voters chose the NOTA option, marking an increase from 2021. Despite NOTA accounting for 0.57% of total votes, it remains lower compared to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The growth in NOTA votes signifies a rising disenchantment among voters.

In a notable trend, more than 123,000 voters in the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections expressed their discontent by opting for the NOTA option, reflecting a significant increase from previous years.
The latest figures from the Election Commission show that 1,23,067 individuals rejected all candidates, marking 0.57% of the total votes cast, up from 97,693 in 2021 and a mere 0.47%.
Although the NOTA vote percentage remains below the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where 156,585 opted for NOTA, this surge signals growing voter disillusionment with available political choices.
