Shankar Ghosh Secures Landslide Victory in Siliguri

BJP leader Shankar Ghosh clinched a decisive victory in the Siliguri constituency, trouncing his nearest competitor, Trinamool Congress's Goutam Deb, by a margin of 73,192 votes, as confirmed by the Election Commission.

Ghosh, originally from CPI(M) and now a key member of the BJP, was the chief whip in the outgoing West Bengal assembly. He amassed a total of 1,20,760 votes, while his main opponent, Deb, the city's mayor, received 47,568 votes. CPI(M) candidate Saradindu Chakraborty gathered only 9,168 votes.

The election discourse heavily revolved around the development initiatives for Siliguri and improvements in its civic amenities, highlighting the city's growth challenges and future potential.
