Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, alongside party MLAs, traveled to Delhi on Tuesday morning to meet President Droupadi Murmu. The meeting concerns the recent defection of seven AAP Rajya Sabha MPs to the BJP, a development that has jolted the Aam Aadmi Party.
On April 24, AAP faced a significant setback as seven of its 10 Rajya Sabha MPs, including key figures like Raghav Chadha and Harbhajan Singh, left to join the BJP. The defectors accused AAP of drifting from its foundational principles and moral core, with six of the MPs hailing from Punjab.
Chief Minister Mann, who was granted a meeting with the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan, emphasized the unity of AAP MLAs. The visit aims to demand the recall of the defecting MPs, ensuring Punjab's voice is strongly heard and democratic values are upheld. Mann also plans to present a confidence motion passed by the Punjab Assembly during the meeting.
