Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condemned the attacks on the UAE's port city of Fujairah where three Indian nationals sustained injuries. Modi's strong denunciation followed the incident where drone strikes ignited a fire in a significant oil industry zone in Fujairah, with the UAE blaming Iran for these hostilities.
Modi stated on social media that attacking civilians and infrastructure is unacceptable and emphasized India's solidarity with the UAE. He urged for peaceful resolutions via dialogue and diplomacy, asserting the importance of safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz for regional peace and global energy security.
The attack coincided with strained ceasefire talks between the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil and gas transport. The conflict led to severe disruptions in shipping and a sharp hike in oil prices. The UAE confirmed engaging ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran, stressing readiness to counter threats to its security.
