In a sudden political development, DMK President M K Stalin tendered his resignation as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, confirmed by party insiders on Tuesday.
His resignation followed DMK's defeat in the recent Assembly elections held on April 23, where the party secured 59 seats in the 234-seat Tamil Nadu Assembly.
The election results saw Vijay-led TVK claim 108 seats, emerging as the single largest party. Meanwhile, AIADMK captured 47 seats. Moving forward, Stalin has vowed that DMK will play a significant role as an opposition force.
