The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved a significant victory in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, securing 82 seats, a notable increase from its 60-seat win in 2021. This success is attributed to a 4.6 percentage point rise in their voter share, now at 37.81%.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), bolstered by allies Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), achieved a historic total of 102 seats, far surpassing the 64-seat majority threshold in the 126-member assembly.
In contrast, the Congress Party saw a slight 0.17 percentage point growth in its voter share but suffered a reduction in seats from 29 to 19. Other opposition parties, including AIUDF and the Trinamool Congress, won minimal seats, reflecting broader electoral shifts.
