The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against the Election Commission and electronic voting machines (EVMs), accusing him of hypocrisy. BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted instances where Gandhi accepted election outcomes using the same EVMs when victorious, yet cites fraud after losses.
According to Poonawalla, Gandhi's allegations of vote rigging in the recent West Bengal elections aim to deflect accountability. He claimed that similar accusations made by other opposition leaders lack evidence and have not been substantiated in court, branding them as post-poll justifications.
Additionally, attention was drawn to fissures within the INDIA bloc, pointing out conflicting reasons given for electoral defeat. The alliance, once seen as a unified front against Prime Minister Modi, appears fragmented with unclear objectives, further weakened by disagreements among key figures like Mamata Banerjee and members of Shiv Sena (UBT).
