The Tamil Nadu Congress has extended its support to TVK leader Vijay in his bid to establish a secular government in the state. Sources revealed the decision was finalized during an urgent Political Affairs Committee meeting held late Tuesday night under the guidance of AICC in-charge Girish Chodankar.
The meeting, held via Zoom, saw senior Congress members express unanimous backing for the actor-turned-politician Vijay. Earlier, the Congress confirmed that Vijay had sought their assistance for government formation following election results, which demonstrated support for a secular administration.
The Congress, post-meeting at party chief Mallikarjun Kharge's residence, reiterated a stance against allowing BJP and its allies to influence the Tamil Nadu government, aligning with the state's electoral verdict. Vijay's TVK requires additional MLA support to secure a simple majority in the assembly.
