Significant resignations have been announced in the West Bengal administration as two former chief secretaries, Alapan Bandyopadhyay and H K Dwivedi, have stepped down as chief advisors to the outgoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Their resignations follow a dramatic shift in the state's political landscape.
An acclaimed economist, Abhirup Sarkar, also tendered his resignation from his roles as chairman of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation and the West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation. Officials confirmed that necessary administrative processes are already underway.
This wave of resignations occurs in the wake of the BJP's electoral triumph, capturing 207 seats in the 294-member assembly. This victory marked the end of the Trinamool Congress's unbroken 15-year governance in West Bengal, signaling a new chapter in the state's political history.
