The Congress party, historically allied with the DMK, declared on Wednesday its support for actor-politician Vijay's TVK to establish a government in Tamil Nadu, thereby ending its association with the Dravidian major.
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee and the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) decided to fully back the TVK, according to AICC Tamil Nadu incharge Girish Chodankar. Chodankar stated that the support is contingent upon excluding any communal forces that reject India's Constitution.
This strategic alliance between TVK and Tamil Nadu Congress aims to restore Tamil Nadu's glory, making efforts towards social justice based on Periyar's and Ambedkar's ideals. The coalition intends to extend beyond government formation to future electoral contests, including local body, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha elections.
