On Wednesday, TVK chief Vijay took a significant step in his political journey by meeting Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, following his party's emergence as the largest entity in the state assembly elections. The meeting marked his formal claim to form the next government.
With TVK winning 108 out of the 234 seats, they fell short of the 118 needed for a simple majority. However, the party received a boost as the Congress declared its support, easing the path for Vijay to potentially take oath as Chief Minister on May 7.
The recently concluded elections saw the DMK win 59 seats, AIADMK 47, Congress 5, PMK 4, IUML 2, CPI 2, VCK 2, CPI-M 2, with BJP, DMDK, and AMMK each securing a seat. The political landscape in Tamil Nadu is now poised for change under new leadership.
