The Opposition Congress in Assam is gearing up for a pivotal meeting, set for May 9, to scrutinize its underwhelming performance in the recent assembly elections, according to an official circular from the party.
Ramanna Baruah, the general secretary for the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, issued the directive urging all relevant leaders to gather in Guwahati. The meeting, called by Assam PCC president Gaurav Gogoi, will review the outcomes of the 2026 Assam Assembly Election.
With Congress having contested 99 out of the 126 seats but securing only 19, compared to the BJP-led NDA's 102 seats, this meeting is seen as crucial for assessing both organizational and electoral strategies.
