In the face of internal dissent following a significant electoral defeat, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has thrown its weight behind Abhishek Banerjee, the party's national general secretary. During a recent meeting, party leaders passed a resolution to support Banerjee's leadership, which has been under scrutiny.
TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee invoked a sense of unity during the assembly, encouraging members to recognize Abhishek's efforts in the electoral fight. Despite concerns over his corporate-style management and the growing influence of I-PAC, the party aimed to present a united front.
Mamata Banerjee also announced a new disciplinary committee to maintain cohesion and announced protests against alleged electoral improprieties. The TMC, with reduced seats, now faces the task of occupying opposition benches as the BJP prepares to form the government.
