The shocking murder of Chandranath Rath, an aide to Suvendu Adhikari, has intensified political tensions in West Bengal. The BJP has claimed the incident exemplifies a breakdown in law and order under the Trinamool Congress (TMC), which has governed for 15 years. Conversely, the TMC has dismissed these claims, urging for a thorough investigation.
West Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhattacharya accused the TMC of targeting BJP supporters even after losing the assembly polls, but appealed for restraint and peace. Meanwhile, Adhikari labeled Rath's killing a 'cold-blooded murder' and criticized the current state of affairs.
The Congress and CPI(M) parties have condemned the violence, demanding impartial investigations and urging both the BJP and TMC to avoid turning the crisis into a political clash.
