Political Turmoil in West Bengal: A Tale of Violence and Accusations

The political landscape in West Bengal has been thrown into turmoil following the fatal shooting of Chandranath Rath, a close aide to senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Samik Bhattacharya, BJP's state president, described the murder as a 'planned political murder' intended to destabilize the region.
Rath was shot dead near Doltala in Madhyamgram by assailants on motorcycles who intercepted his vehicle at around 10:30 PM. The assailants opened fire at point-blank range before making a getaway, fueling speculation about the motive behind the attack.
Bhattacharya linked the killing to a broader pattern of post-election violence and severe criminal activities in the sensitive Barasat-Madhyamgram area. While the investigation is ongoing, Bhattacharya has issued a warning to miscreants, emphasizing that their restraint should not be seen as weakness, amidst denials from the TMC of any involvement.
