The race for the Chief Minister's post in Kerala has intensified, with Congress facing a crucial decision. The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) passed a resolution, asking the high command to make the final pick, during a meeting overseen by AICC observers Mukul Wasnik and Ajay Maken.
Among the contenders for the state's top political position are senior Congress leaders VD Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and AICC general secretary K C Venugopal. The resolution was unanimously adopted by newly elected MLAs and senior leaders after the party's successful results in the 2026 Assembly elections.
The AICC observers are now meeting MLAs individually to seek their input on the leadership issue, while earlier discussions were held with senior figures like V M Sudheeran and K Sudhakaran. The high command's decision, informed by an upcoming report from the observers, will end weeks of speculation.
