The Tamil Nadu Lok Bhavan released a statement Thursday detailing Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar's meeting with TVK chief C Joseph Vijay. During the discussion, Governor Arlekar made it clear that the TVK lacks the essential majority support to establish a government.
In a span of just 24 hours, Vijay and the Governor engaged in a second meeting to further discuss the party's stand on forming a government. Despite winning 108 seats in the April 23 elections, TVK is still ten seats short of the required 118 to secure power.
The Congress, holding five seats, has offered its support to TVK, but this has not sufficed to meet the requisite majority, leaving the political scenario in Tamil Nadu still unfolding.
