TVK leader CTR Nirmal Kumar on Thursday met with CPI state secretary M Veerapandian to solicit support for forming a new government, as the Vijay-led party currently lacks the necessary majority. Kumar's visit underscored the need for alliances in the fragmented assembly landscape.

During the discussion at the CPI office, Kumar confirmed that TVK had already approached other Left parties as well as the VCK and IUML for backing. With Congress pledging its support, Kumar remains optimistic about forging a successful coalition.

The TVK managed to secure 108 seats in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, but needs 10 more seats to govern independently. Despite inquiries about potential alliances with the NDA, Kumar firmly stated that TVK has not sought, nor plans to seek, their support.
