U.S. President Donald Trump is set to travel to Beijing on May 14 and 15 to meet President Xi Jinping. The delegation, led by Senator Steve Daines, emphasized de-escalation over decoupling and mutual respect in talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Senator Daines expressed hope that the summit would lead to Boeing jet orders, despite ongoing trade issues. Both sides have maintained diplomatic channels for the upcoming visit, marking continued stable relations since easing trade tensions last October.
