Senior IUML leader P M A Salam announced on Thursday that the party has not demanded the Deputy Chief Minister's position in the prospective UDF ministry. Salam, serving as the general secretary of IUML's state committee, stated that should the matter surface during UDF dialogues, the party would communicate its position.
As conversations continue, Salam noted that anyone within the Congress-led UDF holding public support is viable for the Chief Minister post. IUML leaders are expected to engage in consultations with Congress-appointed observers from Delhi. Salam emphasized that if their opinion is sought, they would express it.
Regarding cabinet portfolios, Salam reiterated the significance of every ministry, indicating that IUML will deliberate internally on minister selections. The controversial goat head issue, publicized by K T Jaleel, was dismissed by Salam as something commonplace in butcher shops, joking that goat head soup alleviates election defeat stress.
