A showdown erupted at Lok Bhavan on Thursday as TVK cadres gathered to demand that Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar allow their leader, Vijay, to form the government.
Despite presenting a list of 112 supportive MLAs, including some from Congress, to the governor, there's been no invitation extended to Vijay. Protestors stressed the imperative role of the Legislative Assembly in proving majority, referencing the S R Bommai case.
TVK, having secured 108 MLAs and emerging as the largest party, accuses the governor of bias towards the BJP. The protest, marked by vibrant placards and chants, required significant police management, as TVK promised to remain in Chennai until their leader is sworn in.
