Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday interacted with 'hapus' (Alphonso) mango growers from Maharashtra's Konkan region and announced incentives of Rs 11,000 each. Yadav met the growers from the neighbouring state at the 'Mango Jatra' in Indore and inspected the mango exhibition. The annual event features the famous hapus variety from Ratnagiri and Devgarh in the coastal Konkan region. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan was also present on the occasion. The CM said the mango exhibition in Indore is not just a business event, but also a symbol of the affinity between MP's Malwa region and the Konkan belt of Maharashtra. He said that the hapus mangoes from Ratnagiri and Devgarh have a distinct identity in the country and the world. Yadav said that many farmers from Konkan have been coming to Indore to sell hapus mangoes for the past 15 years and are finding a good market here. He announced an incentive of Rs 11,000 each to all 24 growers from Konkan participating in the exhibition. The state government is celebrating 2026 as the 'Year of Farmer Welfare'. Yadav also attended the folk arts event 'Malwa Utsav' in Indore and announced a state government grant of Rs. 5 lakh to its organising body. The CM arrived in Indore after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Suvendu Adhikari as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. Referring to the BJP's victory in the Bengal polls, he told reporters, ''Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the lotus (BJP's election symbol) has bloomed in Bengal, and this state will now move in step with the country.''
