Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said India would never compromise on its security, sovereignty and national honour, as the Delhi government organised a programme at Connaught Place to mark one year of 'Operation Sindoor'. The ''Shaurya Diwas'' event was held at Central Park in Connaught Place in the presence of Cabinet Minister Kapil Mishra, ex-servicemen, youth and representatives of various social organisations. Addressing the gathering, Gupta paid tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the Indian armed forces and said the ''Shaurya Diwas'' was an occasion to salute the bravery and dedication of the soldiers. She said 'Operation Sindoor' had sent a strong message against terrorism and asserted that India would never compromise on its security and sovereignty. Referring to the April 22 terror attack, the chief minister described the incident as ''extremely painful'' and said the brutality inflicted on innocent civilians had angered and saddened the entire nation. ''The pain of the nation's sisters and families united the country, and under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, terrorists were given a strong and fitting response,'' she added. Gupta said 'Operation Sindoor' was not merely a military operation, but also a symbol of the emotions, pride and honour of 1.4 billion Indians. Paying tribute to the armed forces, she said Indian soldiers continued to safeguard the country under difficult conditions while remaining deployed on the borders round the clock. ''The world now understands that India believes in peace, but anyone who casts an evil eye on the nation will receive a befitting reply,'' the CM added. Mishra said the Indian armed forces were writing a ''new chapter of glory'' under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. ''India does not provoke anyone, but if anyone dares to challenge the nation, a strong response will be ensured,'' he said. The programme also featured patriotic performances by singer Ashish Kulkarni, with slogans of ''Bharat Mata Ki Jai'' and ''Vande Mataram'' echoing throughout the venue.
