Evo Morales: Legal Turmoil and Public Outcry

A Bolivian judge declared former President Evo Morales in contempt on Monday after he did not show up for a court appearance concerning charges of trafficking a minor, according to local outlet La Razon.

Morales, Bolivia's first indigenous president, held office for three terms from 2006 to 2019 before resigning after a contentious election. He faces allegations of having a relationship with a teenager and fathering a child with her in 2016 during his presidency. Supporters have rallied to protest the ongoing investigation.

In a recent statement on X, Morales claimed he is the target of 'legal warfare,' alleging government judicial and media persecution with fabricated charges aimed at his moral and physical destruction.
