China's BRICS Shift: Ambassador to Attend New Delhi Meeting

China has announced that its Foreign Minister Wang Yi will not participate in the BRICS Foreign Ministers' meeting in New Delhi due to scheduling reasons. Stepping in for Wang Yi, China's Ambassador to India, Xi Feihong, will attend the summit, as stated by the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.

The Foreign Ministry added that China backs India's leadership as the current BRICS president and looks forward to collaborating with all member countries for the successful execution of the meeting. China remains committed to enhancing the strategic partnership within the BRICS framework and to supporting the high-quality development of 'Greater BRICS'.

The upcoming meeting, scheduled for May 14-15, will host foreign ministers from member nations including Russia and Iran. Notably, the meeting coincides with a visit from U.S. President Donald Trump to China, adding another dimension to the geopolitical interactions surrounding the event.
