Samajwadi Party spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati has come under fire for making remarks deemed derogatory towards the Brahmin community. BJP leader Dr Ajay Sharma's complaint at the Kavinagar police station led to Bhati being booked under the legal section concerning promotion of religious enmity.
In a viral video, Bhati allegedly questioned the character of Brahmins, prompting widespread outrage. Although Bhati offered an apology, asserting that his comments were misused for propaganda, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak criticized the comments as reflective of the Samajwadi Party's divisive mentality. Pathak emphasized that the Brahmin community's historical contributions were being disrespected.
Pathak further challenged Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav to either confirm or reject Bhati's statements as part of the party's ideology. He urged immediate corrective action to appease the outraged community and argued that divisive politics would be democratically countered by the populace.
