In preparation for the upcoming Bakrid festival, Telangana Police are implementing stringent measures to ensure peace and communal harmony across the State, a statement from the police department revealed on Wednesday. Director General of Police CV Anand convened a video conference with Police Commissioners and Superintendents across all districts to outline the strategies.

As part of the heightened vigilance, police officers have been instructed to prevent illegal cattle transportation vigorously. This initiative follows decisions from recent high-level reviews. The DGP emphasized the sensitivity of the Bakrid festival, noting that illegal activities during this period pose threats to public order. Effective implementation of Standard Operating Procedures to deter illegal cattle transport was a focal point during the discussions.

The enforcement strategy is comprehensive, with 52 inter-state check posts established alongside 203 state-wide checkpoints. DGP Anand has mandated strict application of relevant Acts regarding cattle transport and cruelty prevention, warning of legal repercussions for violations. In efforts to reinforce coordination among various government departments, the police are involving the Municipal Administration, Animal Husbandry, and Revenue Departments while monitoring and countering provocative content on social media.
