NSS General Secretary G Sukumaran Nair criticized UDF coalition partners such as the IUML for interfering in the selection process of Kerala's chief minister, calling it an internal Congress issue. Nair blamed their involvement for delaying a decision from the Congress central leadership on the matter.
Nair alleged that the mystery surrounding poster campaigns supporting potential leaders was due to pressure from these coalition parties, which unduly influenced the Congress high command's decision-making process. This interference, he argued, was undemocratic.
Looking ahead, Nair predicted a dismal performance for the UDF in future elections, owing to public dissatisfaction over the selection controversy. He claimed the coalition's inability to gain public trust could limit their seats to under 30.
