Kerala is poised to name its new chief minister on Thursday, over ten days after the assembly election results were declared. This announcement is expected during a Congress legislative party meeting at the KPCC headquarters, where the legislature party leader's name will be revealed.
Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee chief Sunny Joseph made the announcement following discussions among senior Congress members. The decision follows indication from the party's high command, after deliberations involving top leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.
The Congress-led UDF had secured a substantial majority in the assembly elections. However, internal lobbying and ground-level protests have delayed the decision. Potential candidates for the chief minister's role, such as K C Venugopal and V D Satheesan, remain under consideration.
