In a significant political development, Rathindra Bose, a senior leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a first-time MLA, has been nominated for the Speaker's post in the West Bengal Assembly. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during a press briefing on Thursday.
Bose, who represents Cooch Behar Dakshin, expressed his commitment to serving with the motto of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' if elected. The election is slated for Friday, and as of now, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not announced a candidate.
The BJP holds a strategic advantage in the assembly with 207 MLAs in the 294-member house, placing Bose in a favorable position for the election outcome.
