In a significant move, police, in conjunction with central forces, initiated searches at the residences of TMC MLA Dilip Mondal in Bishnupur, West Bengal. The operation comes in response to allegedly threatening remarks Mondal made against BJP workers, which were captured in a viral video.
Personnel from the Diamond Harbour Police District arrived at the Pailan area, acting on FIRs filed under non-bailable sections. The searches, conducted in Mondal's absence, have uncovered two mobile phones belonging to the legislator, currently under examination.
This development follows Mondal's victory over BJP's Abhijit Sardar in the Bishnupur assembly by a margin of over 36,000 votes. The search operation is part of ongoing investigations and highlights the intensifying political tensions in the region.
