He asserted that such appointments, although not constitutionally barred, present serious questions about political morality and ethics.
The VCK leader emphasized that AIADMK's General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami holds the authority to appoint the party Whip, whose instructions are binding on all party MLAs. This means that the 25 AIADMK legislators backing the TVK government contrary to party directives could face disqualification under the Tenth Schedule, a concern Ravikumar highlighted on 'X.'
Despite the constitutional leeway, the Chief Minister faces a key test of public acceptability and legitimacy if he proceeds with the appointments. According to Ravikumar, the ultimate test remains whether the people will accept these defections and re-elect these MLAs under a new party banner.
