BJP Calls for OBC Reservation Integrity in Kerala

On Saturday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) urged Kerala's newly formed government to refrain from instituting religion-based reservations disguised as other backward class (OBC) quotas, advocating instead for safeguarding the rights of OBCs, Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), and economically weaker sections (EWS).

The BJP has also demanded that the new administration ensure transparency and corruption-free governance, indicating that the backing of central government support relies on the implementation of schemes like PM SHRI, Ayushman Bharat, and PM Awas Yojana. The BJP has described its victory in three seats during the recent elections as a historic leap, positioning it as a crucial third political force in Kerala.

Senior BJP figures, including state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, have been critical of the Congress for alleged corruption influenced by extremist groups. The BJP stated its robust opposition both within legislative spaces and beyond, with the election results validating its political presence in the state, suggesting a new alternative to the LDF and UDF.
